Patient Referral Process

  • Step 1: Referral Received

    Once a referral is received, our patient intake team will contact the patient to explain the process and answer any additional questions.

  • Step 2: Benefits Investigation

    We check the patient’s insurance benefits and review them with the patient.

  • Step 3: Consultation

    Your patient will meet with one of our TMS psychiatrists to discuss treatment in detail. If prior authorization is required, Serena TMS staff will obtain it.

  • Step 4: Treatment Begins

    Patients will receive approximately 19 minutes of TMS treatment every Monday through Friday for 6 weeks, followed by a 3-week taper.

  • Step 5: Results Reviewed

    Treatment efficacy is reviewed with the patient by the supervising TMS psychiatrist. Clinical documentation will be sent via progress report to referring provider (if the patient consents).

  • Step 6: Follow Up with Referring Provider

    Patients are advised to follow up with their referring provider and therapist.
